"This is not just a land sale": 64 acres of new industrial sites for Orange

“This is not just a land sale," said Orange councillor Tony Mileto.


A total of more than 26 hectares (64 acres) of land is available in two emerging industrial parks, and Orange City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest to drive development at the sites.


"We want to know about your proposed development, the type of the business, the number of jobs and any spin-off opportunities it could deliver to the Orange economy,” said Mileto, chair of the Employment and Economic Development Committee.



In a statement council said it was "keen to hear from businesses looking to secure land in a new industrial subdivision on Clergate Road and on the Old Saleyards site on Edward Street".





The Clergate Road subdivision is on the northern outskirts of Orange with direct access to the Northern Distributor Road via Clergate Road, which links to the Mitchell Highway to the east (to Bathurst, Lithgow & Sydney) and to the west (to Dubbo and Parkes).


The site has 19.1 hectares available for development.

The Old Saleyards site is to the south of the CBD, with road frontage to Edward Street.


It is bounded by McNeily Avenue to the north, and the rail line to the west. The site has direct access to the Southern Feeder Road (via Edward St), which links to the Mitchell Highway to the east. A link to the west is being constructed over the coming years. The site is 7.43 hectares.

Mileto said industrial parks in the city were already major employers and the EOI process was about making sure the city is ready for growth.





“If you look at the relatively high levels of occupancy or land availability in the existing estates of Leewood and Narrambla the time is right to look to the future.”


While council has approved subdivision plans for both Clergate Rd and the old saleyards site the EOI process will help guide a final design to make sure they meet the needs of the businesses looking to establish in the areas.

An industry briefing session will be held in relation to this EOI at 10am Monday July 4, 2022 at the council offices (135 Byng St, Orange).

This session will provide an opportunity for interested parties to hear from the Council and ask questions about the sites and the EOI process.
