Through the pandemic Good Eddy kept customers sated by serving takeaway. God bless owners Maddie and Toby.

With the state opening up again, the café on Lords Place has been packed of late. Extra staff are on and the Trunkey bacon is on the grill, its salty goodness invading the nostrils of those dining in and taking away.

The coffee at Good Eddy is excellent, with its intense but not overwhelming flavours. I've ordered hundreds of coffees there and can't recall a bad one.

After years of watching other people order ham and cheese toasties ($12.50), I took the plunge.

The sandwich is rich, crunchy and creamy, the ham and cheese mingling with mustard and relish between two layers of quality bread. Sea salt is sprinkled on top.

The complimentary water helps takes the edge off this generously-sized toastie.

For a moment I considered asking for a paper bag to take the second half away, but then common sense got the better and I continued on.

Lunch was not necessary.

Two large coffees ($4.50) helped things along as I took in the passing parade along Lords.
