Two firearms and ammunition found in ceiling, Bathurst police allege

A man has been charged after police seized firearms and ammunition from a home in Bathurst.


About 10.30pm yesterday (Sunday January 8, 2023), officers attached to Chifley Police District attended a home on Rocket Street, West Bathurst, after receiving reports of alleged threats of violence.


When police searched the house two firearms and ammunition were allegedly found in the ceiling. These were seized for further examination.

An additional search was conducted on a vehicle, with police allegedly seizing more ammunition.


A 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess shortened firearm without authority, two counts of not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding licence, and acquire firearm (no licence).


He was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court today (Monday January 9, 2023).

Investigations are ongoing, police said.
