Shoppers at The Village on Summer Street will soon have the choice of buying hot pies at three outlets.
Orange Pie Company is expanding from its shop at the Homemaker Centre between Bathurst Road and Lone Pine Avenue.
Preparations at the second store - which will be next to Choox takeaway chicken shop - were in full swing this week.
Mitch Brown and Ben Coster launched Orange Pie Company at the Homemaker Centre nearly three years ago.
Central West to get share of $9.1 million in flood relief; MP Gee says it'll be "spread pretty thin"
The new premises will include a large kitchen allowing for baking to cater for both shops.
“It will be triple the size,” Brown said of the kitchen.
“We might look at some more seating at the Lone Pine Avenue shop,” Brown said.
An opening date for the new shop - which will be also be known as Orange Pie Company - has not been set.
Brown said he and Coster were considering a rebranding for the company, but that any potential change was some months off.
Despite tight financial times for many, Brown said people were still making room in budgets for pies.
“Ben and I had a conversation recently about a news article that said sales of pies were down across Australia. I do not believe that for one minute," he said.
“People will buy a quality product, no matter what.”
Consumers at the northern tip of the CBD will soon be able to buy hot pies at Summer Bakery, BillyLiks and Orange Pie Company.
Brown said he believed there was room for all.
Orange Pie Company is his first small business and he said “I’d be lying if I said it’s been easier than I thought it would be … it’s been hard, but it’s been rewarding”.
Asked how many hours he and Coster tipped weekly into the business - which includes a mobile pie cart - Brown said: “I wouldn’t want to think about it … some weeks it’s a lot."
