Mount Canobolas closed as we wait for possible hail and snow

Access roads to Mount Canobolas were in the process of being closed early on Tuesday afternoon due to predicted severe weather.

The access road from the intersection of Mount Canobolas Road and Old Canobolas Road to the summit will be closed from 2pm today (Tuesday August 23, 2022).

Mount Canobolas Road from the Teahouse will be inspected and assessed later this afternoon.

Should the conditions change. an update from Cabonne Council will follow.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast a cloudy day with a very high chance of rain, most likely during the morning and afternoon, and possibly falling as snow during the late afternoon and evening.

"Possible small hail this evening. Winds northwesterly 20 to 25 km/h turning southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning," the bureau stated.

The top forecast temperature for the next six days is 15C on Monday.
