Man charged with "intent to murder" to appear in Mudgee Court

A man has faced court over his alleged involvement in the shooting of a man in the state’s Central West last week.


About 9.45pm last Thursday (March 10, 2022) officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to a property about 26km from Gulgong, responding to reports of a shooting. They found a man inside the home with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 6.30am on Friday March 11, 2022, police responded to reports of gunshots fired into a business in Gulgong.


Police arrived a short time later and spoke to a man, who allegedly produced a knife.


Officers deployed a taser and a man was arrested and taken to Mudgee Hospital for assessment.




He was later transferred to Mudgee Police Station and charged with a number of offences including:

  • Shoot at with intent to murder;

  • Cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent;

  • Discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm;

  • Reckless grievous bodily harm;

  • Fire firearm in or near public place;

  • Destroy or damage property;

  • Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and;

  • Resist officer in execution of duty.

The man appeared at Dubbo Local Court on Saturday, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday March 23, 2022.
