Crane tips on $12 million Manildra bridge construction

A crane being employed on the new $12 million Mandagery Creek Bridge tipped over on Tuesday, according to onlookers.
The original Mandagery Creek Bridge was built in 1930 and was in poor condition, with narrow lane widths that do not meet modern design standards.
"The new bridge will be wider, stronger and capable of carrying higher mass vehicles," said the state government recently.
Staged construction of the new bridge on the same alignment was underway, with single lane 40km/h vehicle access across Mandagery Creek maintained at all times.
