112 children can be enrolled at new Orange childcare centre as footprint expands

A childcare centre in the heart of Orange suburbia has gained approval to expand its enrolment capacity to over 100 children.
It will also be able to increase the size of one of its rooms by 45 square metres.
Council papers stated: “The addition will increase the enrolment capacity of the centre from 98 to 112 children.”
The expansion was approved on April 13.
The childcare centre is being built on a 3,428-square-metre block at 64 Valencia Drive.
A four-bedroom, two-bathroom house with swimming pool at the front of the site, which backs onto the Northern Distributor but is accessible via The Escort Way, has been demolished.
It was only 18 months ago the house was on the market.
“This master built family sized home … has just been freshly painted plus brand new carpet right throughout,” read the sale listing.
“Upon entering this home you will find a sunken lounge room with a beautiful feature brick wall with portal leadlight windows.”
The property had a “kids retreat or rumpus room ideally located off the three extra-large bedrooms”.
The master bedroom was “generous in size” and had direct access via the walk-through robe to the “spacious main bathroom".
“Other great features include ducted gas heating, separate dining area, modern kitchen with plenty of bench and cupboard space and a walk-in pantry.
“In the garage there's a 2nd bathroom off the laundry, office, workshop area and plenty of room for large cars plus an in-ground swimming pool.”
The listing stated that the options were “endless … you can build an extra large shed or even a granny flat (subject to council approval).”
The property was on the market for $742,500 and was bought by Kerrie and Peter Sullivan in late 2020.
Given the steep rise in prices in Orange in the last few years, it seems like a bargain today.

In June 2021 council voted on a development application “that Council consents to development application DA 42/2021(1) for Demolition (existing structures) and Centre-based Child Care Facility at 64 Valencia Drive, Orange, pursuant to the conditions of consent”.
All councillors at the time (Reg Kidd, Kevin Duffy, Jason Hamling, Jo McRae, Scott Munro, Steve Nugent, Glenn Taylor, Russell Turner, Sam Romano, Jeff Whitton and Tony Mileto) voted in favour of the DA.
Building work is underway at the site. Mick Banks from Banskia Building told The Orange News Examiner he was hopeful the build would be complete by around April 2023.
